Invermere is located at the north end of Lake Windermere in the Columbia
Valley, which divides the Rockies and the Purcell Mountain ranges. Lake
Windermere and the waters that feed it make up the headwaters for the
mighty Columbia River - the third longest river system in North America.
Invermere is the commercial center for the Valley, serving towns to
the north and south for 60 miles. It is located in the heart of the
valley attractions and has its own charm and character. The downtown
area is a mixture of interesting shops and boutiques, good restaurants,
and all the services you’ll need on your vacation.

A very scenic three hour drive
from Calgary will bring you to the Columbia Valley and the town of
Invermere. En route, you may want to consider a visit to the famous
mountain resort town of Banff. Continuing on from Banff via the Parkway
Highway (#93) takes you through the scenic Kootenay Valley . After
passing Radium Hot Springs, you enter the Columbia Valley by passing
through the narrow and spectacular Sinclair Canyon. Invermere is just 10
minutes from this Valley entrance. |
